Walking SA - new website + Walking Expo + April 10 General Meeting

1. New website

Walking SA's new website has been launched, visit www.walkingsa.org.au.

  • Find a Place to Walk directory - find new trails or routes to hike, or share your own walks and trails
  • Calendar of walk events - find walks from member walking clubs and walk-for-a-cause events (walking clubs can list their events)
  • Walking clubs around South Australia - review and compare clubs offering a range of walks to suit anyone
  • 49 walking guides, books and apps detailed - help you find places to hike in South Australia
  • Detailed info about trail access issues - find out about trails under threat
  • Subscribe to email news - choose the types of topics you are interested in, such as walk-for-a-cause events, or new Find a Place to Walk listings

2. Walking Expo, Sunday 6th April, Rymill Park

Walk. Explore. Discover.

10am-3pm Sunday 6 April 2014

Rymill Park, Adelaide cnr East Tce and Bartels Ave

Walking can give you access to amazing places. Whether it's exploring your own neighborhood, uncovering hidden street art in the CBD or discovering stunning views from a mountain top, two feet can take you there.

The Friends of the Heysen Trail are doing two free Discovery Walks on the day:

  • Inner Adelaide Street Art by Vicki Cox. A 2-hour walk around Adelaide's east and west end public art from spray to long stay, starts at 10:30am
  • Outer Adelaide Statues by Simon Cameron. A 2-hour walk visiting Adelaide's Masterpiece War Memorial, starts at 10:30am

No need to register, just turn up on the day.

3. General Meeting 10th April - adoption of new constitution

7pm Thursday 10th April 2014

Unley Community Centre, 18 Arthur Street, Unley

  • acceptance vote on adoption of new Constitution
  • presentation of our new strategic plan, 2014-2016
  • launch of our new website

One of the first essential tasks for the re-convened Board of Walking SA was the development of a new Constitution for the organisation. Following much consultation, drafting and re-drafting by the Governance Committee, the Constitution has now been endorsed by the Board, and will be put to a member's vote on April 10th.
