The GPS files for use for navigation in handheld GPS units have been updated. These are the first updates since 12 months ago. The updates includes 6 re-routes and corrections.
Download the latest GPX or KML file from heysentrail.asn.au/heysen_trail/maps.php
The following three re-routes have been added:
- Re-route in Second Valley Forest to take the Heysen Trail past Robinson Hill Campsite, maps S2.2 and S2.3
- Re-route in Kuitpo Forest near Mt Bold, which was marked by ForestrySA sometime in 2011, map S3.1
- Re-route along Horrocks Pass, to take the Heysen Trail off of the bitumen roadside, map N3.4
The following corrections have been made:
- Re-route of trail through Horsnell Gully has been updated. Although included as a re-route at the time, the GPS file was not accurately updated to include this re-route, S3.4
- Fine-tuning of Heysen Trail at Cape Jervis, immediately after trailhead, map S1.1
- Minor re-route (max 80m parallel to original trail) at Naiko Inlet included, too minor to post as separate re-route
